Report: CEO: Russia’s Kogalymavia to seek compensation from Egypt
MOSCOW, Dec 7 (PRIME) -- Russian airline Kogalymavia will seek compensation from Egypt after its plane crashed on its territory, CEO Ismail Lepiyev told Forbes on Monday.
“Moreover, now that the causes of the accident are clear, we have the right to seek compensation from the country where the terrorist attack has happened… Egypt is a Russian partner in many fields, these are relations, which have been developing over decades, we respect this and will try to agree on compensation out of court as long as we can,” he said.
On October 31, a Kogalymavia’s Airbus À321 flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg crashed over the Sinai Peninsula, and all 224 people on board, including seven crew, died. Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russia’s Federal Security Service, said that the crash was caused by a terrorist attack.
